ETTL Drilling

ETTL has added another rig to its fleet, the Diedrich D-50 All-Terrain Trackmounted Drilling Rig. The D-50, among its many unique features, is remotely controlled. Its driver doesn't ride it. He walks! - controlling the D-50 with an easily operated remote control. The combination hollow stem auger / mud rotary drill rig is mounted on a heavily-reinforced-rubber track carrier that uses the latest in hydrostatic drive technology and is designed to readily traverse mud, snow, sand, uneven ground, wooded areas, and slopes as steep as 60% grade. The tracks are 18" wide, providing a ground contact pressure of about 3 psi, which gives the D-50 a unique capability to move through difficult muddy conditions. On board equipment includes a Moyno mud pump, shelby tube extruder and a 250 gal water tank. With a spindle speed of 700 rpm (approx), the D-50 can provide some 8000 ft-lbs of torque, permitting high-speed coring as well as the installing of 4" monitoring wells. The rig is equipped with an automatic 140-lb SPT sample hammer that will readily convert to a 170-lb sample hammer for TxDOT projects.
